The Cobras travelled to Kilsyth looking to continue developing structures and rotations through the midfield. Canterbury played well and contained their opposition for long stretches of the game, but better use of the large ground by the home team, and a long injury list (including no bench for the last quarter, and no ruckmen) meant the Cobras were always up against it.

Brett Johnson showed great signs up forward along with Justin Perillo and Riley McDonald. Levi King continued to burn his opponents with his pace, with Sam Murphy also racking up numerous touches.

Despite a great deal of fight from an undermanned squad, the Cobra reserves were outgunned by a Kilsyth side with a bit more depth on the day. The scorecard saw some new additions in the goalkicking column, with Theo still recruiting mid-season to cover for injured playing staff.

Andrew Mack continued his consistent form down back proving a combative force, while Matt Auld and Marty Kocurek got on the goal scorers list again, and played well on the day.

The Cobras hosted Park Orchards for the first time at the Snake Pit, with the home team looking to make up for the Round 1 defeat away. The Cobras started well, and were up at quarter time.

A damaging second quarter from the Sharks cost the Cobras dearly, with seven goals to one in the term proving the real difference on the scoreboard at the end of the day. Despite three goals from Brent Isles, some great run and carry from Carroll, Harding and Augustinus, and tireless ruck work from Richard Gates, the Cobras couldn’t peg back the deficit.

A special mention goes out to Levi King whose consistency has been a shining light for Canterbury in season 2012.

Park Orchards 10.12.72

The reserves welcomed back some former Canterbury regulars in Andy Winn and Nick Ardley, for the 100th match of Cobra veteran Shaun Kelly. A slow start cost the Cobras not for the first time this season, with four goals to zero in the first term making it difficult for the Cobras to make inroads throughout the day.

Andrew Mack provided his regular rock solid defensive efforts, with support from Troy Finnin. Kelly chipped in with two goals, as did Lachy Giles, but it wasn’t enough to take the points at home. Justin Perillo continued to provide his weekly highlight reel, and pushes for senior selection along with Clayton Skate.
